Hello,

I'm setting up a dial-up connection on a w2k pro laptop
and keep getting the msg:

"name" is not a valid name. The entry name must contain
at least one character that is not a space and cannot
begin with a period. Choose a different name.

I found a KB article (319162)that accurately details my
issue:

CAUSE
This issue may occur in the following situation:
You upgrade the computer from a previous operating system
to Windows 2000.

-and-
Some of the Windows 2000 Routing and Remote Access
components were not installed correctly.

I tried the suggested resolution of upgrading the OS to
reinstall the files, but this did not work.

My question is, is there any way I can selectively
remove\reinstall the Routing and Remote Access
components? Or is there something else wrong here?

Thanks for ANY input.

Ariel,

What are you trying to name the connection?

I've tried all kinds of things:

hello
test

and a number of single word, no space, no period
variations.
